Just an Easter quickie ...

... just needed a quick little top, and thought I would try out an end-of-summer cowl neck. Last winter I made a few of Simplicity 3790 with sleeves, so gave a sleeveless version a go.
The fabric is just gorgeous to feel, a touch silky, and fairly bright and cheery. Very Eastery if I may say so ...

It looks super with my cream/beige skirt, or my black jeans for a casual look ... I tried to position more of the aqua colours in the cowl to be closer to my face ...

And I didn't realise when I purchased the fabric, but there are actually butterflies flitting around the fabric ... I know, how could I miss a butterfly this big???

So I can safely pop this top into Faye's 2013 Essential Top Sew-A-Long ...

And just a quick family shot from a 'Do' we went to last Friday evening for my son's volleyball at school. Now I am about 5'6" tall (or what I call near enough to average), and wearing heels for the occasion. And still I look like a midget at a Land of the Giant's party...

Even my daughter and hubby are slouching somewhat to make me feel better...talk about being vertically challenged!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Easter weekend ... J

  1. I love the butterfly fabric, so pretty! Great family photo too... hehe, exactly like my family as mum is short (shorter than you) and dad, bro and I are towering over her. Happy Easter! :)

  6. Lovely! I hadn't noticed this pattern before. I like the cowl with the gathers. I haven't noticed any patterns like this before. The fabric is gorgeous, like a swirly Easter egg.

  10. Judith, that is a lovely top - it could even be worn over a warmer t shirt as a layering top, so I think it will be very versatile. The aqua on the cowl, with hint of warm colours, will look lovely next to your warm complexion.

It is a lovely pattern - isn't it funny how you never see them in to catalogues until you see them on someone's blog.

Your family looks lovely, even the midget!

  16. Beautiful--both the blouse and the family! I feel your pain about being a "shortie"--I'm 5'3", and my younger siblings all are taller than I am.

  20. You are going to make me have to dig through my Simplicity drawer to find that pattern. I know it's in there somewhere. It's amazing how I often discount a pattern until someone else makes it and it looks fab. Yours is beautiful, love that print. I'll upload your picture after work today.
