Un~adorne with fabric ...

... it really is a sad, sad view! My poor little body double has not even a skeric of fabric to cover herself up with. It is a NO~SEWING weekend, and possibly even longer (gasp!), thanks to end of year school reports which 'have-to' be written up and submitted by next Friday.  So sadly my little body double has been relegated to the spot of shame, she just stands and waits patiently for me to do what I have to ...

... because she knows all too well that there is always something coming to cover and excite her! My next dress plan for the Make-A-Garment-A-Month Challenge involves this beautiful Japanese cotton fabric, and the ever popular Vogue 8766 ...

My plan is to sew up View D ~ the short sleeved straight version (purple dress on packet). The fabric is washed, ready to go, but there is not a chance it will be cut into before December, which is only ONE WEEK AWAY!!! So this will be my December make. Fingers crossed that this week just flies by, and my scissors can cut into this fabric next weekend. Hope everyone enjoys the last week of Spring, or Fall if you live across the pond ... J

  1. Ahhhh, I am so familiar with this scenario as my school just finished a state accreditation evaluation. About a month and a half of long hours and hard work preparing for it. Now a week long Thanksgiving break and back again to finish up and get grades and reports submitted by the 20th. Wheeeew! Your poor dress form! Mine is still wearing the last outfit I finished - seems like a month ago.

  4. I hate having my dress form naked too. I usually display one of my recent makes to avoid this. I'm sure this week will fly by as you will be so busy. You will be sewing again in no time.

  5. Judith, one good thing about being really busy is that the time really will pass quickly - in no time at all you will be in your sewing room making lovely things.

I do like the dress pattern - the spots will be quite stunning. Why not cover your dummy up with the fabric? I do that sometimes, it keeps me focused on what I am going to do :)

  8. Poor forlorn little body double! However, she will look classically gorgeous in her navy and white spots. Look forward to seeing you climb out from under all those reports and making her respectable! Cheers, Karen

  9. Looks like a good project for December. I hope that my week flies by too - I feel like I made just get my mojo back by next weekend for some sewing. My reports have me feeling exhausted.

  17. I can't imagine how painful it must be to write school reports! But I guess you're up to sewing now - and I'll bet this polka dot dress is looking gorgeous!

  18. I know exactly how you are feeling .... I am so missing sewing at the moment, even though I am enjoying learning so much knitwise ... by the way, I forgot to say on my last comment (Valedictory Dress) that I was amazed by the fact that I found my dress fabric in my local sewing store yet there you are on the other side of the world in the exact same!
