My fancy has been tickled by...

... this contempory one-of-a-kind sewing room decor idea.
How cool and creative is that!!! Susan @ Living with Punks is one almighty inspirational OCD/ADD crafter  who just has 'the knack' at whipping up the most amazing things in her life. And she gives a step-by-step tutorial on how to make these up - just how good hearted is this lovely young lady!

 These just look so clean, and striking, and I have always been memorised by the rows and rows of coloured threads, zippers and shiny buttons in fabric stores. So, off to IKEA for the frames, hunt the stash for what I had (as if there was any need to tip-toe down to the Lincraft sale) and lookie at what I made...
And because this is from my stash, I am claiming it as part of my STASHBUSTING for January (OK, a few days into February is still counted in my books!)
Sewing Room Ideas
Shadow box frames are from IKEA, as is the wall mounted shelf ...

Threads are just my favourite colours ... so glad I always buy extra at the sales ...
The word SEW is printed on canvas (Christmas gift from the ever-clever kids), from Typo, a to-die-for store that I love prowling through

    Love your artwork! Typo have the best metre ruler I've ever seen. It folds up to become about 4" long. Fabulous! I can keep it in my travel sewing box and it's very handy. $4.95 I think. Barg! Love those sorts of shops....and ikea of course!

      These shops are just great to get lost in...a slow prowl around and plenty of time is always needed. Must look for that ruler...J

    I love this idea! I don't have much in the way of decor in my sewing room because I'm still trying to figure out new places to hide the stash.

      I am only just starting out at revamping and decoration my room, picking fav colours and making it more liveable...stash is still hiding away from hubby's eyes...J

    Judith, these are adorable.. Love the J made with all the adorable buttons.. [and my name is Judy, so I can see what a J will look like,ha].
    I love the black and white dot fabric behind it too.
    We don't have an ikea store close to me.. So, I am thinking Hubby could make me some shadow boxes [since he makes picture frames??? we will see???]
    I see some of these being made in my future..just so cute, thank you for sharing.

      Hey, another Judy!!! If hubby whipped them up for you, you could specify the exact size - IKEA only had set sizes to work with!

      You know exactly how to twist hubby!!! Yes, there is glass over each frame, so I had to make sure it was spotlessly clean before sealing the back on...

    That looks great - love your colour combination. I have a display of paper doll fashion books, cross-stitch of Liberty in London. A shelf of Amish themed bits from Pennsylvania, framed pic of Dior New Look model, some antique wooden spools, a china sewing machine tea pot, thimble collection ..... in other words, Way Too Much!!

    Fantastic Judith - really gorgeous! I love what you've done - I have no wall space but am looking into the days that I can expand into a private room (I do have a dedicated space) . . . . Great job, again.

    I guess if I did have the space I would probably want to have a dream board or inspiration board of some kind . . .

    OMG Judith... you just tickled my fancy too! What a clever idea... I'd love something like this on my wall. At the moment there's nothing except two cork boards that I pin projects and ideas... or things I'm working on. This idea is so much more appealing and really adds that special touch. Love it!!

    These are very clever. My sewing desk is situated in our bedroom. I have a shelf above with vintage and modern tins which I store haberdasheries in. I would like a pinboard for inspiration also my next project pinned on it to spur me on.

    Indeed these are cute and clever! Knowing me, though, I would be too tempted to take the art apart if I run out of thread or need a zipper. =) After a while, I'd have nothing but empty shadow boxes. LOL

    In the room where my machines are, I have all types of stuff on the walls: pictures from old calendars, pieces of printed upholstery, and post cards. My walls are a hodgepodge of 'hey, this is kind of pretty' stuff. =)

    All of these are super- colourful and still full of memories of all the things you've sewed in these colours. I'm so disorganised that I would end up having to dismantle the frames to get at the matching zip and thread!!! The buttons are particularly impressive.

    These are adorable, and I am sure you can count it as stash busting, but I am with Ruth, I would probably end up having to break into them to get a much needed zip or thread.

    Sadly my sewing room is in the converted loft space and I don't really have any flat walls to hang anything on. This would have to be a project that gets put on hold until I have a standard room + my room is nowhere near as neat and tidy as yours lol.

    Cute! and I like your colour scheme. I don't know if I would have the will power to not puck those reels of thread off the wall to use them though! My "artwork" consists of pictures of inspiring clothes, ripped out of newspapers and blu-tacked onto the wall... lol.
