Just a quick top to keep me on track for my TAM (Top-A-Month).
McCalls 8405, so old it isn't even worthy of being classified as OOP. I've had this since 1996...
But I also have Butterick 4683 which is extremely similar...
Anyway, quick top means a quick review...
...and the back...
...and a close-up of the motley fabric...
This is such a comfortable top, with the Princess Seams and button up back for a change. Very easy to wear by itself or with a jacket over the top...
Not much else to say on this one.
Boy are you on a roll. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this 2 tops for January? You must be building up a surplus to allow for slacking off later in the year! OR is this 2 separate challenges.....Shirt-a-month and Top-a-month? Love this top. Princess seams just suit all shapes and sizes and those buttons down the back are such a nice look.
ReplyDeleteThat is hecka cute, Doobee, but is it hard to button up by yourself? I live alone and am not sure if I could handle that with my wonky shoulders.
ReplyDeleteShams: not to hard - arms up and wiggle!!! Kind of takes care of the daily stretching all in one go...
ReplyDeletePam: I have put my hand up for SAM and TAM. Going strong at the moment as holidays are in full swing, but you watch, when I head back to work in a few weeks the sewing cogs will slow down to a crawl...
Love top. Nice to meet you and your great blog. I am visiting from Never Growing Old
ReplyDeleteI haven't sewn in years but I think I could make that top. I use to have one like it in front without the buttons in back. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteTrudy: lovely to have you visit 'Down Under'...
ReplyDeleteDoylene: give it a go, it isn't a hard top to make at all...
So pretty! I have been thinking about making myself some new tops. It's been years since I sewed any clothing though. I wear tall sizes and tops at the stores are never long enough. thank you for inspiring me.I enjoyed my visit to your lovely blog. I'm following now. Hugs and wishes for a lovely weekend. P.S. I just announced my newest giveaway I hope you'll stop by and get your entry in :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this! I think it was about a year ago that I threw out a really classic Vogue pattern that I'd made a looooong time ago. I threw it out because it was made for a tiny waist person. Actually, the woman pictured on the pattern had a waist of about 18". :-) I should have saved the pattern for the photo alone!
ReplyDeleteMake hay while the sun shines. Keep up the good work. I like this top, will wear with anything, dressy or casual and like the contrast buttons too.
ReplyDeleteThats a great top and the buttons make it such a unique feature... xx
ReplyDeleteKatherine: Thanks for stopping by. I understand your height predicament totally - my daughter is 6'2" and RTW is near impossible lengthwise. Will pop over to your blog...
ReplyDeleteCranberry Morning: 18" waist...those where the days...
Ruth:...and the sun sure is shining strong at the moment...
House of Pinheiro: Yes, the buttons jazz up what would otherwise be a fairly plain little top...
some patterns just never stop being useful - a great little top .
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. The flat felled seams were quite easy to do - a bit like french seams .
Thank you for joining us at the Thursday Favorites Hop. Wishing you a happy weekend! xo P.S. Have you entered the Pink Poodle giveaway yet?
ReplyDeleteCute little top - looks perfect for under a suit! These older patterns are really worth hanging on to - lately there seem to be more stretch top patterns about and fewer of these neat fitted little things...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Great top - love the two front hem splits and the buttons down the back. You're being super productive on your holidays, I'm so very jealous that you have six weeks off!
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed! WOW...so glad i found you over at Katherines Corner :) you just might have encouraged me to try sewing! hope you come and visit me at thecottagemarket...i am now your newest follower : )
